On July 16th, 2017, human rights activist, Elieder Leiva Semillon, was at the headquarters of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU), located in the town of Héctor Infante. There he participated in a workshop on peaceful struggle. Upon leaving the meeting, he was detained by the State Security officer known as Arturo and the head of the sector, Edi. They took him to the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) unit in Manuel Tames where he was interrogated by Arturo who threatened him, telling him that Cuba is not Venezuela, and that they could disappear them whenever they want.
