Yaimel Rodríguez Arroyo, a representative of the Independent Libraries of Pinar del Río, went to the municipality of Consolación del Sur to buy toys for the celebration of the Three Wise Men but was unable to do so because of threats by State Security officers. After buying the toys and leaving the store, he was arbitrarily detained by two officers of that municipality, driving him to the National Revolutionary Police Station of Consolacion del Sur. There, he was met by officers of the same repressive body, Major Juan Pérez and Lieutenant Colonel Arturo Beune, head of the State Security in the province of Pinar del Río. After having suffered cruel and inhumane treatment, all the toys were confiscated and he was accused of using the children of the community for revolutionist plans. When taking the toys they give him an act of occupation, where all the toys appeared as well as 328 CUC (265 eur). He was also threatened and a warning was issued forbidding him from buying toys again and traveling through that territory. He was released after two long hours of abuse and harassment.
