Yoel Acosta, an activist from the Eastern Democratic Alliance (ADO) and an independent journalist, was detained at his house by State Security (DSE) officials known as Leonis and Sergio or Jaime Vera, along with 12 more policemen. Then he was taken to the police station in Baracoa. There he was threatened with imprisonment if he continued with his work as a journalist since only officially selected people are allowed to do this job. The officials also said that they had a power to make him disappear and if he did not leave the opposition, his son, who suffered from a hydrocele, would never get a surgery. After that they let him go without any further consequences.
