An activist from Guantánamo detained and prevented from participating in the Human Rights Day event



In the morning, 10 December 2020, Yoandry Matos Guindo, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), was on his way to the house of Bartolo Cantillo Romero in order to participate in an event celebrating the Human Rights Day. When going through the Aguilera Street in Guantánamo, he was detained by a patrol car and driven on the Baracoa Road. After several kilometers, the car approached a property and stopped there. Meanwhile, State Security officials Lionis and Ángel Luis arrived on a motorbike to the place. Then they soon left and the patrol officers stayed with Matos Guindo. They left him inside the car parked on direct sun meanwhile they were sitting more than 50 meters from the car. Four hours later, they left the activist abandoned on the spot.
