Roberto Perdomo, a human rights defender from the Eastern Democratic Alliance, was detained by State Security (DSE) official known as Manuel and two more policemen in the center of the municipality of Mella. He was then taken to the police station in his place of residence. During the detention, the officials confiscated him three litres of vegetable oil bought in a special shop known in Cuba as "Tienda Recaudadora de Divisa". Despite having a receipt for this purchase, he was accused of hoarding and threatened with imprisonment. According to the officials, Roberto bought the oil in order to distribute it to people as a practice of political proselytism. Moreover, he was threatened with imprisonment for not paying his fines amounting approximately 10000 pesos. Roberto was released four days later at about 11:30 am without any further consequences.
