When Richard Duputey Areas left his home to go to his delegate's house to attend a civic activity, he was intercepted by members of paramilitary groups rapid response accompanied with the political police. He was arrested and asked if he was going to Gabriel's house to attend a counter-revolutionary activity. Richard said, he would do it. According to him it was not a counter-revolutionary act. Just he was trying to change everything that must be changed. After having said this, he was handcuffed and taken away by the hands behind his back. They put him into a car that was not the state police. From there he was taken to the police station and put him by force in the jail. He was held for several hours. Richard said they tried to force him to sign a letter saying that he belonged to a gang, and that in any time he was not questioned. He refused to sign it. The police told him to leave, and they did not want to see him anymore.
