Rolando was detained in Calzada del Vedado Capitalino Street by several State Security officials (DSE) who did not identify themselves. He was taken to the police unit known as Zapata y C. There, the officials talked about an alleged link between him and Sanago Álvarez, about meetings with members of the American Congress in order to allegedly influence the developments in Cuba. He was also told that if he organized protests on the streets or any other violent actions, they would apply the Law 88 for the Protection of Cuba’s National Independence and Economy, which may impose up to 20-year sentences. They informed him that he is being under constant surveillance and if he continued, all the activists working with him would be affected. He was released at about 8 pm on the same day without any further consequences.
