Activist prevented from travelling abroad and participating in a course in the USA



On 15 August, 2019, the victim, who is an LGBTI rights activist, arrived at the José Martí International Airport in Havana to order to undertake his journey to Washington, D.C. In the United States, he was supposed to receive a leadership training in a duration of 6 months in one of the North American universities. However, when he approached the customs at the airport, he was informed by an official working there that he would not be able to travel since his travel status was restricted. The official said that he did not know the reason, but still, he would not be able to travel anywhere.
