Arrested for demonstrating

At 1:20 p.m., on his way home, he was detained by two agents of the National Revolutionary Police, who acted under the orders of the State Security agent who calls himself Miguel. The agents took him to the Provincial Unit for the Instruction of Crimes against State Security, located in Bayamo, where he was interrogated by several State Security officers and agents, among them he mentions agents calling themselves: Captain Miguel, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel and the State Security Criminal Instructor, Daniel Ramirez Matamoros, among others. After being interrogated and repeatedly threatened for his participation in the protests held the day before, they tried to accuse him of being the promoter and initiator of the demonstration. Rato was later taken to the cell, where he was detained for a week (7 days). On the third day he was taken out for interrogation and in the corridor, during his transfer he was slapped and beaten on the back by an unknown officer with the rank of Major, who gave him several blows and shoves, as well as threats of imprisonment, disappearance and murder; his claims fell on deaf ears. On the fifth day, during a new interrogation, they tried to release him on bail of 20,000 pesos. Upon his refusal to pay bail for his release since he had not committed any crime, he was taken back to the cell. He was released at noon on July 19, 2021, after being given a warning and placed under house arrest until further notice. His case is still pending decision by the authorities.
