The mother of an activist was charged with the crime of illicit enrichment

Yisabel M. Marrero Burunate was participating in the Seminar for Democracy in Cuba, which was held in the United States. During the event, her family was victim to an improper registration of her home due to the development of the Margarita Lanza Flores-Capitán Tondique Project which is dedicated to provide food for the most needy. They arrested her mother and charged her with a crime of illicit enrichment, putting her on house arrest as a precautionary measure, pending an oral trial. Additionally, they confiscated all of the resources that were used to develop the project.
