Detained and beat up by police while heading to Mass



On December 6, 2015, an activist Roelvis Cuba Sendo was heading to Santiago de Cuba to attend Mass in the Santuario del Cobre. In Camilo Cienfuegos Avenue and San Gregorio street, he was attacked by anti-riot units belonging to the National Revolutionary Police. State Security officials beat him and later took him to the Police Department in El Salvador. Roelvis Cuba Sendo had to be taken to the hospital in Guantánamo. He was admitted to the observation unit for about 24 hours. The bruises under his eyes, face and body are visible.
