Man beaten and detained for more than 96 hours

Alexis García Matos was on the way to Boniato Prison in Santiago de Cuba to visit his brother. When he was passing through a checkpoint on the Santiago de Cuba Road, he was detained by State Security official Mijayl. He was told he is not allowed to travel and has to go back. Alexis naturally wanted to know the reason, but the official told him that it is order and he does not have to explain it. When Alexis started protesting against such ban, the policeman beat him. Totally immobilized with broken arm, Alexis was taken to the State Security Department. During his detention, he was threatened by major Mijayl and his colleague official Odelin that if he tried to travel again, he would be prosecuted for disobedience and resistance. He was released 96 hours later.
