Human rights defender detained and deprived from his work equipment



On July 10, 2019, the political police detained human rights defender and independent journalist Niober García Fournier in Guantánamo. The officer named Víctor Victor stopped him and drove him to the police unit where he was detained for 6 hours. There he was interrogated by officer Leoni who said he would be given a warning letter for working for a foreign power. At the same time his house was searched, confiscating: a laptop, an external hard drive, a camera, three USB memories, two mobile phones, a radio and 300 CUP (€ 12).
