Man from Guantánamo detained and threatened for expressing his view on the COVID pandemic



Rafael Pérez Rodríguez was detained on the street by sector police chief of the Zone Center in Guantánamo, along with officials of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). After that he was driven to the police unit known as Parque 24. There he was threatened for an alleged crime of defamation against the regime. Pérez Rodríguez had been expressing his views on the current situation in the country and the pandemic, claiming that the hospitals were collapsing and there were no medicaments to fight the pandemic. Rodríguez Pérez was warned that if he kept expressing similar opinions, he would be prosecuted for defamation. He was released on the same day after 15 hours in detention.
