A woman detained and threatened for participating in a public protest against low wages and high prices in Banes (a case of Karina Martorell Martí)



The victim Karina Martorell Martí participated in a public protest against the low wages of the workers and the high prices of food for the population. The military gives Karina very low prices. They took her very poor quota of milk sold to children at age 7. All this oriented, and led by their national delegate of the Cuban Revolutionary Party. She was intercepted by the secret police accompanied by law enforcement within minutes when she started scream: "Freedom, Freedom". About 10 troops arrived in a small bus, they handcuffed her, then forcibly pushed her with other activists in the bus. Once inside the bus, they began to insult and threaten Karina. The victim testifies already in the police station she was dragged. She stayed with other activists for several hours until they began take them one by one for questioning, threaten. Then they released them. Karina said that before releasing they threatened her with imprisonment.
