Authorities threatened to terminate a woman's housing license

For more than 6 years Maybelice de la Caridad Suárez Tejeras has been living with her uncle and his two children in a house big enough to only accomodate a couple. Knowing that Maybelice didn't have proper accomodation, her uncle has been helping her. However, 4 years ago, her uncle was sentenced to 6 years of jail time and since then Maybelice has been constantly facing evacuation threats from authorities. Her uncle was released when the Pope visited Cuba and he was promised adequate resources to sustain his family of three children and his neice Maybelice. But no such resources have been provided and Maybelice, the present owner of the house, has approached the authorities multiple times. Maybelice's requests have only been returned with threats by the FMC officials to permanently terminate her ownership of the house. Only after contracting a lawyer Maybelice has been able to legally defend herself against such threats and has attempted to reclaim resources which should have been given to her uncle. The housing problem was resolved and authorities withdrew the claim to terminate her housing license. However, the process of reclaiming resources is proceeded with the Provincial Government.
