Independent journalist detained by police and threatened

Emilio Almaguer de la Cruz was leaving the ETECSA company (The Cuban Telecommunications Company), when a policeman approached him and told him to accompany him to the offices of the Ministry of Interior. When they arrived, major Alfredo Olivero was already waiting for them. The official threatened Emilio that if he continued with his journalistic work, he would end up in prison, making reference to José Daniel Ferrer, the founder of the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU). The policeman gavehim an official written warning which he refused to sign. Some time later, Emilio was released.
