Activist detained in front of her house in order to prevent her from leaving her town

On Saturday, 25 May, Mayra García Álvarez was detained on the corner of her house when she was on her way to the municipality of Perico in order to participate in a meeting with opposition. García Álvarez was detained by a secret police officer called María Carla who told her: "I am really sorry, but you cannot leave from here". García Álvarez replied that in that case she should better call a patrol car because her house is not a prison cell. She was then driven to the police station located in the Hospital of Mario Muñoz de Colón. García Álvarez was released at 1 pm.
