Activist imprisoned in Guantánamo attacked by another prisoner



Eider is a human rights defender and at the moment, he is imprisoned in the Guantánamo Provincial Prison. On that day, he was assaulted by other prisoner and former police officer Julio Duribe Latamble. They had an argument and Eider had to defend himself. After that, they were both transported to the Provincial Hospital Agustino Neto, the activist with several bruises around his eye and hits on his body and the former police officer as well. On the next day, Captain Iraelio Hérnadez told Eider that he could be accused of causing the injury. However, this accusition has not been lodged yet. Before the incident, Eider had already informed several times the heads of the prison that this prisoner was very problematic, however, the leadership had not done anything about it. For that reason, Eider hold them responsible, especially Major Manuel Fernández Peña, the chief of the unit and Captain Reinier Crea, the head for internal order.
