On July 15, 2021 Elizabeth Cintra Garcia was summoned to appear at the station of the National Revolutionary Police where she is accused of being one of the promoters of the protest of July 11, 2021. For this reason she was detained and sent to the criminal instruction in Caibarien. On July 19, 2021, the Placetas Municipal Prosecutor's Office imposed a precautionary measure of prison, for which she was sent to the Guajamal Penitentiary Center.
On August 23, 2021 she was released with an administrative sanction of 3000.00 cup (€120) for crimes of low dangerousness. The PNR is empowered to resolve these offenses without the need to go to the Courts of Justice.
