He was arrested from June 23 to June 25 2015 as he was giving support to the Human Rights activist Yolanda Arce Sarmiento, who performed a protest on a roof of a building in the municipality of Caimanera. Special troops of the Interior Ministry in charge by the Head of the State Security in the municipality took the building by assault and abruptly captured him causing him several light injuries. Then Cantillo was transported by three officers of the Special Brigade who put him a key in the arms and neck which prevented him from breathing, causing him loss of consciousness for few moments. Then he was thrown into the truck transporting the special squad where the officers continued hitting him on the floor and brought him handcuffed to the Operations Unit of the State Security in the city of Guantánamo.
