In the morning, 8 February 2021, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), Aidé Galván Casal, was a victim of detention when she was on her way to the UNPACU headquarters. There, she was about to participate in an event along with other activists. Aidé Galván was detained by an official from the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), Major Gianny Clape Rodríguez, and by an official from the State Security, Captain Neuri Durán Pajan. After that she was driven to the PNR unit where she was kept for more than three hours. During that period, she was interrogated by the State Security Chief, Lesnier Leiva. The official threatened the activist with a fine amounting 3000 pesos in the national currency if she kept disrupting the public order or inciting disorder. The official also told her that she should think of her children living abroad, that one day they might want to come back and they would be refused. The activist was released after more than 24 hours in detention.
