On 1/12/16 at 2 pm, Edgardo was travelling on the central road of Camaguey in front of the 2nd unit of the National Revolutionary Police dressed in a pullover with the US flag on it. Suddenly, he was intercepted by Frank Alvarez who is from the Communist Party. He was detained for wearing the pullover. Edgardo responded he could wear whatever he wanted to wear and he continued his way to his private candy store. At 3 pm, a policeman with number 41272 appeared along with Frank Alvarez who accused him of disrespecting him. Without listening to Edgardos's opinion, the policeman asked him to accompany him to the station. There, he was transferred to the overcrowded cell with more than 20 people in it and he was told to wait for the inspector. But he never came.Edgardo was released at 10 am on December 2. Edgardo complained that he had been detained unjustly and illegally, but the officer known as Suarez told him in very rude way that if he did not leave immediately, he would spend another night there.
