Man is victim of arbitrary behaviour of the telecommunications company

At 7:30, officials from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) and Technical Investigation Department (DTI) entered the house of Yevgeni Chirino Orta. They had already been preparing from 4 am in order to completely search the house. The officials did not show any search warrant, started immediately searching the house and Yevgeni was arrested and hand-cuffed. The officials explained, that they were informed Yevgeni was illegally selling the movies and serials and he had a wireless network which was being used for distribution of the movies and for downloading and listening to the foreign broadcast. However, it still was not clear what they were looking for, because they confiscated all equipment they classified as suspicious, including 200 pesos which Yevgeni had at home. His family was told that the stuff would be returned when the process is finished. Yevgeni was detained from July 13 until July 16, 2016. During the detention, he was interrogated by an official who told him, that he was downloading pornography and distributing it. Given the fact, that there was not any evidence for such statement, Yevgeni was released. He is now waiting whether or not they will return him the confiscated stuff. It was later discovered, that the true reason for searching Yevgeni´s house was the fact, that ETESCA (Telecommunications Company of Cuba) was looking for a person, who was stealing the data and prepaid hours of internet connection to its customers.
