An activist from Camagüey detained due to his participation in protests and accused of incitement

On 11 July, 2021, Dixan Moré Gainza was detained by police officials at home. The reason was his participation in the protests in the Camagüey Province, organized as a part of wave of national protests all around the country. The activist was taken to the 3rd Police Unit where he decided to go on hunger strike. A week later, he started to drink water, but he still keeps being on hunger strike. On 19 July, his mother María Moré Agramonte was allowed to visit him. According to her, her son was skinny with a tired look, but in a good mood. The receiving official told his mother that the prosecution issued a precautionary measure for provisional imprisonment as her son was accused of incitement. Dixan Moré still remains in detention waiting for the trial.
