On 15 January 2020, at 4 pm, three police officers appeared at the house of Carlos Leyva. One of them identified himself as a sector police chief, the others did not present any identification. The officers annouced him that they would have to do a house serach since him and his wife are freelancers, selling agricultural products. Without any explanantion or a search warrant, they entered the house. When Carlos asked for further explanation, he got punched in his eye and was threatened to be accused of disrespect if he kept interrupting their work. After having searched the house, the officers left his place. After that, Carlos and his wife had to go to see a doctor. His wife suffered from a strong arterial hypertension and Carlos was treated by an ophthalmologist as he could not open his left eye.
