On February 4, Human Rights Ombudsman Norberto Mesa Carbonell, a representative of the Organization of the Brotherhood of La Negritud, was held by an Airport Security Officer after having spent an hour in the customs check at the José Martí airport in Havana. The officer took his passport and handed it to a Customs Officer, and his bags were taken and requisitioned. He was also subjected to an interrogation and after two hours was allowed to continue. The objective was to gather information about the Human Rights Training Workshop of a member of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
