On 10 October 2020, Diana Rosa Ricardo Serrano was detained along with her husband, William Tamayo, who is an activist from the Eastern Democratic Alliance (ADO) in Banes. The detention took place in their house and the couple was not allowed to leave for more than 24 hours. The action was led by the State Security and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution. Moreover, the officials did not pay attention to the fact that there were children and elderly people in the house who might have been affected.
