On July 18, 2021, the victim's brothers-in-law went out into the street with a sign reading "Patria y Vida" (Homeland and Life), which provoked an altercation with police officers, who tried to arrest them. They were unsuccessful because people on the scene attacked the officers and prevented the arrest. However, the next day the officers went to the victim's house to arrest him, despite the fact that he had no involvement in the incident, since he was not even at home at the time of the events. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison for an alleged crime of assault and one of the witnesses in his favor was not allowed to testify at the trial.
