At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, in the cell of activist Yedier Fuentes Áreas, Major Modesto, who is chief of Guantánamo prison security, and other officials beat and handcuffed Yedier and brought him to the punishment cell. His clothes and belongings were thrown on the floor for inspection. Major Modesto warned him to not hand out brochures or try to change the order of the prison the next day, International Human Rights Day. Supposedly, he had brochures, cards, and other material to use to protest. Yedier has already had to go to the hospital on various occasions because of the beatings by Guantánamo prison officials under orders of Major Modesto.
