Leyanis Herrería Salazar was detained at the Méndez Square in Camagüey by State Security officials (DSE) known as Maikel and Frank along with several policemen and three patrol cars. The DSE officials intersected Leyanis when she was distributing leaflets about the campaign “La cola de la libertad”. After the detention, she was taken to the 3rd Police Unit where Maikel and Frank threatened her with imprisonment if she kept spreading the printed materials in the streets. Before her release, she was fined 2000 pesos for an alleged spread of the pandemic. Leyanis was eventually released at about 7 pm. Several activists from the province gathered in front of the police station and were calling for her release.
