An activist from Guantánamo detained and threatened for shouting anti-government slogans

A municipal coordinator of the United Anti-totalitarian Forum (FANTU), Miguel Ángel López Herrera, was detained by three State Security (DSE) agents at the intersection of Máximo Gómez and Pinto Street. The reason for his detention was the fact that on 20 May he had been shouting anti-government slogans from his house in Guantánamo. He was put into a Lada car and taken to the police station called Parque 24. There, he was taken to an interrogation room where he was threatened with beating and other repressive measures against him. Also, he was threatened with imprisonment if he continued with his anti-government rhetoric. He was then fined 2000 pesos for an alleged crime of public disorder and two hours later released.
