An activist and his wife detained while heading to Mass in Guantánamo

On Sunday, 29 September 2019, secret police in Guantánamo carried out an operation in the zone South in the city. Their goal was to prevent a Lady in White and her husband from participating in Sunday Mass. Two officials from the Confrontation Unit led the operation and detained the couple on their way to the Santa Catalina de Ricci Cathedral located in Guantánamo. They were put in a patrol car no. 603 and driven to the Police Instruction Unit, also known as Operations. The Lady in White was left in that unit and her husband was driven to the police unit in the municipality of El Salvador. They were both detained for about 8 hours in prison cells without any water and under very bad conditions.
