A woman constantly detained and fined for her peaceful activism (a case of Mercedes Ruiz Vives)



Mrs. Mercedes Ruiz Vives, since 2010, has been harassed and persecuted by officials of the Department of the Cuban State Security. Treatment due to Mercedes has incorporated in political parties and has fought for a change of life for Cuban civil society. In 2013 she was arrested five times, she was always her way to the activities of the political party to which she belongs, in 2014 she was arrested three times. On October 9, 2014 she was arrested with her husband Luis Alberto Arrastria. Mercedes was fined and her husband was banned for one year and eight months for participating in counterrevolutionary activities. From date she has suffered from this injustice, her husband was released on June 29, 2015. By her way of thinking, acting, and of peaceful association meeting, has been persecuted and harassed.
