Kelvin, the independent trade union representative, was fired from his job, after attending a union training course in Panama, sponsored by the University of the Workers of Latin America (UTAL). When he presented himself at his workplace, the boss called him into his office to tell him: "You're fired and soon you will be summoned to get the documents of the dismissal.". Kelvin said that the political police is responsible for his dismissal and that they will continue in their efforts to persecute him. "I am sure they just followed instructions given to them....", he said referring the State Security and clarifying that his dismissal was motivated only by political reasons.
The union activist was working as a plumber since 1992 in the old factory of nickel of René Ramos Latour. Currently he is the Secretar y-Genera of the Union of Independent Workers of the Mining, ascribed to the Confederation of Independent Workers of Cuba (CTIC).
