In the morning, on 3 June 2021, Bartolo Cantillo Romero, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), was on his way to go shopping when he was detained on one of the Guantánamo streets. Then he was taken to a police unit known as Parque 24 in Guantánamo. There he was received by two police officers and a State Security official known as Lionis. This official threatened the activist that if any poster mentioning the president Díaz Canel was observed in the city, he would be fined 8000 pesos. This happened as a result of posters which had appeared in the city of Guantánamo during a football match in the United States.
