Peaceful dissenter Yobel Sevila Martinez, 39 years old, was detained while trying to prevent that people hurt each other. Sevila was with other human rights activists at Los Maceos street, where was taking place the popular festival known as Guantanamera. Suddenly, for unknown reason, several people started a fight using all kinds of objects as arms including glass bottles. Few soldiers were watching the fight without trying to stop them. Sevila came to them and asked them if they are waiting till someone gets killed. Soldiers attacked him violently and took him to the unity of National Revolutionary Police, where he was beaten again as he was shouting anti-governmental slogans. He was transferred to the detention center and he was interrogated by Charlo who threatened him as well.
After 72 hours, he was released free of charge but with strong injuries and pain in the ribs, practically immobile.
Because of this case, Yobel is now accused of "assault".
