Activists from Guantánamo driven out of the city in order to prevent them from participating in Mass

On Sunday, 21 July, 2019, two human rights activists, one of them Bartolo Cantillo Romero, were detained by secret police in order to prevent them from attending Mass carried out in the Santa Catalina de Ricci Cathedral in Guantánamo. They were then put in the patrol car no. 616 and taken towards the municipality of San Antonio del Sur. There they were left on an abandoned road nearby so they could not make it back on time for Mass. Both activists then walked back several kilometres until they were picked up by a bus heading back to the city.
