Social assistance was withdrawn from a Cuban family with a disabled child

In February 2018, a labor commission and social assistance inspectors visited a Cuban citizen to notify her that the social assistance she was receiving due to the mental disability of her youngest daughter would be withdrawn. The girl needs special care and medical treatment in a specialized hospital and must constantly travel to the capital to receive medical care. The officials stated that the assistance was being withdrawn because the mother was self-employed (she rents a room to Cuban people).
