Citizen detained when heading to Guantánamo province to see his family

Angel Medina Alonso was detained by police at the checkpoint on the highway from Santiago de Cuba to the Guantánamo province. He was approached by State Security official called Reiner who told him that he has to come back to his province until he receives a permission to leave. According to the official, an illegal departure from the country through that province was expected and they received respectives orders to be followed from their superiors. Medina Alonso got angry and said that he did not have to leave the country, those who should leave are the people filling up the country with lies and false hopes. Then he said he was just on his way to see his family. Thereupon, he was hand-cuffed by force, put in a patrol car and driven to the police unit in Niceto Pérez. He was fined for public disorder and released 24 hours later.
