Norberto Mesa Carbonell, a founding member and the leader of the ´Cofradía de Negritud´, a citizen project against racial discrimination, was arrested on August the 7th of 2018 at 6:00 AM. Two State Security officers who did not identify themselves arrested him. The arbitrary detention was motivated by the fact that 7th of August the organization was going to celebrate a 20-year anniversary and there was a meeting planned in Havana. Norberto was released that night near his home.
