Independent journalist from Baracoa detained at home and threatened with prosecution



At 11 pm on 5 December 2020, the leader of the Juan Pablo Segundo Movement, Randy Caballero Suárez, was detained by members of the State Security along with the National Revolutionary Police (PNR). The activist was pulled out from home half-naked and by force driven to the PNR station. There he was kept for 4 hours under an interrogation led by Lieutenant Colonel Lesnier Leiva. The official threatened him with bringing his case to the court and accusing him of spreading disinformation and enemy propaganda. The mentioned official also told him that he will no longer allow him to speak about the revolution in media belonging to the enemies such as Radio Martí and Radio República or on the social media. He advised him that the best thing he could do was to leave the country. Caballero Suárez was released on the next day at 2 am.
