An activist from Guantánamo detained at home, beaten up and fined by State Security



A human rights activist Miguel Ángel López Herrera, a member of the United Anti-totalitarian Forum (FANTU), was detained at home on 25 September 2021 by State Security officials without identifying themselves. They took him to the police unit Parque 24 to the office of the sector chief. They told him that he was involved in posting anti-governmental posters saying “Down with dictatorship”, “Down with Fidel”, “Down with Raúl” and “Homeland and Life” which appeared in the province. Then official Eliot with two more policemen came to beat him up and force him to admit his responsibility. The victim claims not to have anything in common with the posters. He was released at about 11 am on the same day with a fine 2000 pesos for an enemy propaganda.
