Bartolo Cantillo Romero was detained by the State Security (DSE) official knowns as Víctor Víctor together with two other policemen who did not identify themselves. The detention took place on the La Avenida and Los Maceos Streets when Romero was on his way to the Santa Catalina de Ricci Church in order to attend the Sunday Mass. The officers put him in the patrol car no. 616 and drove him to the second bridge of the Santiago-Guantánamo highway, approximately 9 kilometres from his home. They left him in the car parked under direct sun until 11 am. After that, he was released.
