A man from Guantánamo detained and threatened for expressing publicly his opinion

Alejandro Ramírez Rodríguez was detained right on the street by a police chief from the Center zone along with officials from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) and then driven to the police unit called Parque 24. There he was threatened for an alleged crime of defamation against the regime. The reason was that Alejandro was expressing his opinion on the current situation in the country and was criticizing the government for issuing so-called MLC cards intended for buying goods. He stated that for a regular Cuban without connections, it is very difficult to get the card. Alejandro was also warned to avoid similar statements against the regime otherwise he would be prosecuted for defamation. He was released on the same day after 11 hours and half in detention.
