Trade union activist detained after having visited a former prisoner at his house

On Monday, 2 September at 2:20 pm, Dannery Hurtado Bicet was detained on the street in Aguada de Pasajeros when she was on her way back home. In the morning, she had visited, along with two other colleagues from the trade unions, the former prisoner Iván Hernández Carillo at his house. As the secret police deployed their patrol cars around, Hurtado Bicet was detained and driven to the police station in Aguada de Pasajeros. Once they arrived, they searched all her belongings and told her to take off her clothes. They confiscated her a copy of a complaint she submitted with the police in Colón in August for the detention she had been subjected to. They damaged the document and told her that the complaint will not be proceeded. Moreover, they confiscated her the documentation related to the trade unions. They issued for her an official warning (Acta de Advertencia) and told her that she can no more go to Colón. She was released from the police station in Aguada de Pasajeros at 5:20 pm.
