An activist of the John Paul II Movement was victim of physical and psychological abuse by integral inspectors Carleidy Lamber and Julia Zamora and by NCO Antonio Beltrán Romero. The latter threatened the activist with "putting into his mouth all the agricultural products he sells in his cart through the streets of Baracoa" and used force against the activist by pulling him by his shirt when he got distracted. The people who were in the vicinity came to the defense of the activist who was being attacked by the military and the integral inspectors supposedly because he did not have the documents that allow him to sell agricultural products in order. According to the victim, just as he was showing the documents, this officer appeared and attacked him and gave him no time to explain what was happening. She also said that this officer had been obsessed with him for some time because of his way of acting and thinking in defense of human rights. Thanks to the support of the population, his merchandise was not confiscated and he was not arrested by this officer who was determined to take him away for an alleged crime of hoarding.
