Nelson Acosta Ríos was in a relative's house, where Lieutenant Celso Mendoza Mora, an officer of the political police also known as Yuniel, arrived to the house around noon. Lieutenant Celso Mendoza told him that he had to accompany him to the police unit. He was mounted in a truck and taken to the unit. There, the officer hit Nelson on the shoulders, arms, and chest and said: "When I call you, you have to come to my side quickly." After a few minutes he was taken out and mounted in a jeep car and moved to the Perico Police Station, about 18 kilometers from the town of Máximo Gómez. There they kept him until 3:15 p.m. where they did not give the corresponding arrest record nor allowed a telephone call as established by law. Before releasing him, they raised the Official Act and imposed a fine of $150.00 CUP (4.6 euros) for distributing food in Colon.
