Georgina Alvarez Beltrán was on her way to the Provincial Hospital of Guantánamo to visit her sister and bring her food and a change of clothes when she was intercepted and detained in public view by the chief of the sector Lieutenant Gustavo Arias and two policemen. Alvarez Beltrán was accused of hoarding. When she protested and tried to explain, she was hit by the sector chief causing injury to her hands and an injury on the right side of her face. She was taken to the police station where she was detained for more than 25 hours. In the station, they confiscated all of the things she was taking to her sister. She was released on the 5th of April, 2017 at 2 pm.
