Activist was detained and threatened for helping Ladies in White



On Sunday, August 21, 2016, at 7 am, human rights activist Bartolo was heading to the Mass at the Church of the Parque Martí en Guantanamo with his partner. When he saw the violent detention of several Ladies in White, he came out in their defense. Because of that, he was detained by pushing and beating. He verbally shouted slogans against the government like "No More Violence", "Freedom for the Political Prisoners," and others. He was taken to the police unit called Operaciones where re remained for more than 8 hours and where he was threatened by Major Bryan and officer Kevin who told him not to get into the problems of Ladies in White or he would end up in prison.
